BUYBACK ESTIMATE

How do you estimate a gold buyback value? Match weight, fineness and time

A first estimate multiplies eligible net weight by a buyback quote in the same unit, then accounts for actual fineness, condition and dealer terms. In-store testing determines the final result.

Last updated: 17 September 2026Based on the public sources listed on this page. Final prices and service terms are confirmed when you lock a price or visit the store.

Quick answer

A simple estimate is eligible net weight × the matching buyback quote. Non-fine gold needs a fineness adjustment; items with stones, non-gold parts or unclear records need inspection first.

Four inputs make the estimate useful

Weight and quote must use the same unit. Never multiply a per-gram price by a number of taels.

The stamped fineness is a starting point and may still need instrument confirmation.

  • Net gold weight
  • Fineness
  • Current buyback quote and currency
  • Testing, settlement and other terms

Why online and in-store values differ

The quote may move before arrival, and an item may include non-gold parts, solder or require further testing.

Ask for the testing process before it begins and review weight, fineness and final price before agreeing.
